Easter weekend is upon us and I have made a list of some ways of celebrating the holiday.
Learn more about the holiday
As a non-religious person I believe Easter is simply a festival of springtime, but for most Christians, Easter is the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The Jewish holiday of Passover falls at the same time as Easter and celebrates the Israelites release from slavery in ancient Egypt. You may want to research more about the holiday and why it is important to different people. Learning about different religions and cultures allows us to be more open-minded and less judgemental.
Get creative and paint some eggs. They make a nice decoration to hang up around your home.
Make an easter cake
I have an annual tradition of making an easter flan, and there are lots of recipes online for easter cakes, chocolate nests and simnel cake. There is a recipe from the Guardian, making a gingerbread bird box for an Easter twist on the Christmas classic.
I think this is an obvious one really.
For me, Easter is about new growth, so spending time outside is a way of celebrating the holiday and also has a host of benefits for your health.
Watch Easter Parade
I love musicals, and Easter Parade has two major stars, Fred Astaire and Judy Garland. It is all about the run up to the annual Easter Parade in New York and is sure to get you in the mood for Easter.
I hope you have a nice holiday whatever you choose to do.
