Thoughtful song lyrics

After going up to Scotland and spending quite a lot of time on trains last week I found myself thinking a bit more about the lyrics of songs I was listening to. I think we often disregard the lyrics a bit, most people can hum a tune but not remember the words of a song. Here are some that have stood out to me as thoughtful or that make you think about the world in a different way.

‘Que sera sera, whatever will be will be’

– Que Sera Sera, Doris Day

‘Birds flying high you know how I feel, sun in the sky you know how I feel’

– Feeling Good, Nina Simone

‘While overhead her birds fill the skies’

– Bird Lady, Julie Andrews

‘When I get that lonesome feeling and I’m miles away from home, I hear the voice of the mystic mountains calling me back home’

– The Black Hills of Dakota, Doris Day

‘For every fella, each fella with an umbrella, there’s a girl, a girl who saved her love for a rainy day’

– Fella with an Umbrella, Judy Garland

‘My heart wants to sigh like a chime that flies, from a church on a breeze’

– Sound of Music, Julie Andrews

‘I see skies of blue and clouds of white, the bright blessed day, the dark sacred night. And I think to myself what a wonderful world.’

– What a Wonderful World, Louis Armstrong

‘All the lonely people, where do they all come from? All the lonely people, where do they all belong’

– Eleanor Rigby, The Beatles

This was a bit of a different post for me but I hope you liked it.
